IMPACT / DECISION APPLICATIONS

The question is what remains.

The following scenarios show where condition, consequence and inheritance evidence could inform a decision. They are illustrative applications, not completed UBCC client case studies.

POTENTIAL APPLICATIONS

Four decisions that merit an earlier view.

Each question requires a defined scope, lawful access and evidence design before any conclusion could be drawn.

01

PETROLEUM & GAS / PRE-FID

Has anticipation changed the starting condition?

An announcement may alter livelihoods, expectations and relationships before construction. A governed early record can help distinguish pre-existing conditions from changes associated with the project.

Possible evidence: affectedness map, starting-condition record and assumptions register.

02

CRITICAL MINERALS / LOCAL CONTENT

Will supplier opportunity become independent capability?

Contracts and training can be counted. The harder question is whether local firms gain transferable skills, market access and the ability to compete after preferential arrangements end.

Possible evidence: capability pathway, dependency risks and review points.

03

PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS / REFORM

Can the institution sustain the change?

A reform programme may deliver systems and training while key decisions still depend on temporary external support. The inheritance test asks what can function when that support recedes.

Possible evidence: operating capability, answerability and continuity conditions.

04

INFRASTRUCTURE / PLACE

Which gains and burdens will remain?

Transport, ports and industrial infrastructure can redistribute opportunity and constraint across a wider area than the physical project footprint.

Possible evidence: affectedness beyond the site boundary and durable place-level options.
